Description
Recombinant Human Vascular Endothelial Cell Growth Factor121 (rHu VEGF-121) is a 28.4 kDa homodimeric protein consisting of two non-glycosylated 121 amino acid polypeptide chains. VEGF-121 is a secreted homodimeric protein secreted by a variety of vascularized tissues. The reported activities of VEGF-121 include stimulation of endothelial cell growth, angiogenesis, and capillary permiability. VEGF-121 does not bind on heparin. Recombinant human VEGF-121 produced in HEK cells is a glycosylated 37 kDa homodimer and 50 kDa homotrimer. It has been purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

                            Activity
rHu VEGF-121 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The specific activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of HUVECs (Human Umbilical Vein Endothelial Cells) and is typically 2-8 ng/ml.
                            Endotoxin Level
                                Less than 1 EU/μg.
                            Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder. Lyophilized from a concentrated protein solution (1 mg/ml) in 1xPBS.
                            Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1 - 1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
                            Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu VEGF-121 should be used immediately or stored long- term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
