Description
SOX-2 is a transcription factor that forms a trimeric complex with OCT4 on DNA and controls the expression of a number of genes involved in embryonic development such as YES-1, FGF-4, UTF-1 and ZFP-206. SOX-4 is important for early embryogenesis and for embryonic stem cell pluripotency and plays also an important role for the determination of cell fate. Recombinant human SOX-2 produced in E. coli is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain of 208 amino acids (1-200 a.a.) and a molecular mass of 23.1 kDa. SOX-2 protein is fused to an 8 amino acid His-tag at the C-terminus and purified by standard chromatography.
