Description
nterleukin 7 (IL-7) is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor which affects Pre-B, Pro-B and early T cells. It will also affect mature T cells in combination with other factors such as IL-2. Human IL-7 is a 17 kDa protein containing 153 amino acid residues.

Activity
The ED50 measured as T cell growth factor activity in a cell proliferation assay using PHA-activated human peripheral blood lymphocytes is typically 0.2-0.5 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 2 x 10^6 units/mg.
Endotoxin Level
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per mg of the cytokine, as determined by the LAL method.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered solution in PBS containing 50 mg of bovine serum albumin per 1 mg of cytokine.
Reconstitution
It is recommended that sterile phosphate-buffered saline containing at least 0.1% human serum albumin or bovine serum albumin be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of no less than 1 mg/ml of the cytokine.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder is stable for greater than six months at -20°C to -70°C. Reconstituted IL-7 can be stored under sterile conditions at 2°C to 4°C for one month or at -20°C to -70°C for three months without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freezing and thawing.
