Description
The Immortalized Human Tonsillar Epithelial Cells (E6/E7 HTE) were isolated from routine bilateral tonsillectomy patients and were immortalized by transfection with retroviral vectors containing HPV-16 E6 and E7. When compared to the primary cells, these immortalized cells retain the original morphological characteristics. The Immortalized Human Tonsillar Epithelial Cell line (E6/E7 HTE) is a suitable model for studies in carcinogenesis as it allows in vitro studies of epithelial cancer formation and the role of HPV in conversion of a normal cell to cancer cell.
