CSC-I9240L
Description
The posterior commissure region is made up of cells which aid in vocalization. More importantly, it is the region of the larynx most associated with the pharynx. This makes it the first area to be exposed to material from the stomach during laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR); a mechanism suggested contributing to cancers and anomalies in the larynx. Due to its contact with LPR, posterior commissure cells are an attractive model to study laryngeal disorders. The Immortalized Laryngeal Posterior Commissure Cell Line retains its squamous phenotype and continues to express CK5 and CK8 markers after immortalization.
