Description
CYP1A2 catalyzes the oxidation of polyaromatic hydrocarbons and heterocyclic compounds and is found mostly in the liver, nasal mucosal tissues, and the intestine. About 10% of routinely used small molecule medicines have CYP1A2 implicated in their metabolism. Clinical drug-drug interactions involving frequently used medications, such as caffeine, theophylline, and the antipsychotic clozapine, have been linked to polymorphisms in the human CYP1A2 gene. Environmental carcinogens included in cigarette smoke and combustion exhaust are also activated metabolically by isoforms of the CYP1A2 subfamily.Creative Bioarray's CYP1A2 Activity Assay Kit enables rapid measurement of native or recombinant CYP1A2 activity in biological samples, such as liver microsomes.
