Description
The IGH/MAF Dual Fusion Probe is intended to detect the t(14;16)(q32;q23) reciprocal translocation involving the IGH and MAF gene regions.
MAF is an oncogene that has been found to be over-expressed in multiple myeloma (MM). Both MAF and WWOX genes are found in tandem on chromosome 16q23. t(14;16)(q32;q23) has been associated with more aggressive forms of MM. Thus, FISH testing for t(14;16)(q32;q23) has been indicated as one of the minimum tests during MM detection.
