Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0045
Description
Fibroblast growth factor 8b (FGF-8b) is a member of the fibroblast growth factor family. The FGF-8b isoform has been shown to activate the 'c' splice form of FGF R2, FGF R3, and FGF R4. FGF-8 expression during mouse development is limited to days 9 through 13 and its expression pattern suggests a role for FGF-8 in multiple regions of ectodermal differentiation post-gastrulation. FGF-8 is thought to play a role in outgrowth and patterning of the face, limbs and central nervous system. The FGF-8 locus has been mapped to mouse chromosome 19 and human chromosome 10.
Species
Mouse
Product Overview
Mouse Fgf8 (beta) expressed in E.coli
Sequence
A DNA sequence encoding the mature mouse FGF-8b isoform protein sequence was expressed in E. coli.
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0045-25 (25 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0045-125 (125 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 97% as determined by SDS-PAGE and visualized by silver stain
Activity
Activity was measured by its ability to stimulate H-thymidine incorporation in a confluent quiescent culture of NR6R-3T3 fibroblasts and the ED50 was typically 1-3ng/mL in the presence of 0.1mg/mL heparin.
Endotoxin Level
Endotoxin level is less than 0.1 ng per μg of the cytokine as determined by the LAL method.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a 0.2 μm filtered solution in PBS, containing 50mg bovine serum albumin per mg of cytokine.
Reconstitution
It is recommended that sterile PBS containing at least 0.1% human serum albumin or bovine serum albumin be added to the vial to prepare a stock solution of no less than 25 μg/mL of the cytokine.
Storage & Stability
Lyophilized samples are stable for greater than six months at -20°C to -70°C. Upon reconstitution, mouse FGF-8b can be stored under sterile conditions at 2-4°C for one month or at -20°C to -70°C for three months without detectable loss of activity. Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
