Description
Human Interleukin-6 (rHu IL-6) is a single, non-glycosylated polypeptide chain of 21 kDa containing 184 amino acid residues. rHu IL-6 is a potent lymphoid cell growth factor, which affects B-lymphocytes, T-lymphocytes and hybridoma cells. It will also affect cytotoxic T-cells in combination with other factors such as IL2 and Interferon-gamma.

Activity
rHu IL-6 is fully biologically active when compared to a standard. The ED50 as determined by the dose-dependant stimulation of murine 7TD1 cells is less then 0.1 ng/ml, corresponding to a specific activity of 1 x 10^7 IU/mg.

Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a sterile-filtered protein solution in phosphate-buffered saline (pH 7.4).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted IL-6 should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0,1% HSA or BSA). Please avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
