Description
Recombinant Human Interleukin-3 (rhu IL-3) is a potent growth promoting cytokine. It is a species-specific colony stimulating factor, which stimulates colony formation of megakaryocytes, neutrophils, and macrophages from bone marrow cultures. IL-3 is capable of supporting the proliferation of a broad range of hematopoietic cell types. It is involved in a variety of cell activities such as cell growth, differentiation, and apoptosis. This cytokine has been shown to also possess neurotrophic activity, and it may be associated with neurologic disorders. Human IL-3 produced in HEK cells is a glycosylated monomer, having a molecular weight range of 17-45 kDa due to glycosylation. It has been purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques.

Activity
rHu IL-3 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The activity was determined by the dose-dependent stimulation of the proliferation of human TF-1 cells (human erythroleukemic indicator cell line) and is typically 0.5-2 ng/ml.

Formulation
Sterile-filtered, white, lyophilized (freeze-dried)powder. Lyophilized from a concentrated protein solution (1 mg/ml) in 1xPBS.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized IL-3, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored at - 20°C. Reconstituted IL-3 should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0,1% HSA or BSA). Please avoid repeated freeze / thaw cycles.
