Description
Human Interferon-alpha 2a is an interferon class I produced by the cells of the innate immune system as a part of the defense response to foreign agents such as viruses, parasites and tumor cells. The human alpha-interferon family displays broad spectrum antiviral, antiproliferative and immunomodulatory activities on a variety of cell types. Interferon-alpha 2a (IFNa-2a), one of the subtypes, is a protein consisting of 165 amino acids. Its three-dimensional loop structure is maintained by two disulfide bridges. It has an approximate molecular weight of 20 kDa. Recombinant human IFN-alpha 2a is a polypeptide single chain containing 171 amino acids with a predicted molecular mass of 20.1 kDa. It contains a His-tag at the C-terminal end. Human recombinant IFN-alpha 2a expressed in Nicotiana benthamiana is produced by transient expression in non-transgenic plants and is purified by sequential chromatography (FPLC). This product does not contain any animal–derived components or impurities.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human IFNA2 expressed in Nicotiana benthamiana
Molecular Mass
20.1 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0179-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0179-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
Nicotiana benthamiana
Purity
Greater than 97% as determined by SDS-PAGE analysis.
Activity
The specific activity was determined by a quantitative gene reported bioassay using human Type I interferon-sensitive cells.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 0.04 EU/μg.
Formulation
Lyophilized from a concentrated, sterile protein solution in 0.05 M Tris-HCl buffer (pH 7.4) with 0.01% SDS.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 50 μg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use. At higher concentrations the solubility may be reduced and multimers generated. Optimal concentration should be determined for specific application and cell lines.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted protein should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
