ActoFactor™ Recombinant Human Insulin-like growth factor binding protein 1

  • Specification
  • Recommended Products
Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0201
Description
IGF-BP1 is one of the six homologous proteins that specifically bind insulin-like growth factors and modulate their mitogenic and metabolic actions. The function of this protein is not completely defined. However, several studies demonstrate that it inhibits IGF binding to cell surface receptors and thereby inhibits IGF-mediated mitogenic and cell metabolic actions. Insulin Like Growth Factor Binding Protein modulate IGF activities by increasing their plasma half lives and by inhibiting or promoting the interactions of IGF with receptors on certain target cells. In addition these, binding proteins provide a reservoir for IGF in pericellular spaces. Some IGF-BPs also have stimulating effects in vitro and some may inhibit the growth of cells. Recombinant human Insulin Like Growth Factor Binding Protein-1 is a 25.4 kDa protein consisting of 235 amino acid residues (Isoform A).
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human IGFBP1 expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
25.4 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0201-25 (25 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0201-125 (125 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 98% as determined by SDS-PAGE, FPLC and RP-HPLC analysis.
Activity
rHu IGF-BP1 is fully biologically active when compared to standards. The ED50 as determined by its ability to inhibit IGF-1 induced proliferation of MCF-7 is ≤ 0.5 μg/ml in the presence of 6 ng/ml of human IGF-1.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
Sterile-filtered through a 0.2 micron filter and lyophilized from 10 mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.5).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu IGFBP-1 should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
