Description
COPD Airway Cells include lung fibroblasts, bronchial epithelial and bronchial smooth muscle cells. Lung fibroblasts are isolated from adult lung tissue, bronchial epithelial cells are isolated from epithelial lining of airways above bifurcation of the lungs, bronchial smooth muscle cells are isolated from the major bronchia.
Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is one of the most common lung diseases. It makes it difficult for patients to breathe. There are two main forms of COPD; Chronic bronchitis and Emphysema. Chronic bronchitis is marked by long-term cough and excess mucous. Emphysema leads to the destruction of the lungs over time. Most people with COPD have a combination of both conditions. Usually COPD is associated with bronchial epithelium changes.
