Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0455
Description
The cytokine Macrophage migration inhibitory factor (MIF) has been identified to be secreted by the pituitary gland and the monocyte/macrophage and to play an important role in endotoxic shock. MIF has the unique property of being released from macrophages and T cells in response to physiological concentrations of glucocorticoids. The secretion of MIF is tightly regulated and decreases at high, anti-inflammatory steroid concentration. Human recombinant Macrophage Inducing Factor is a single, non-glycosylated, polypeptide chain containing 115 amino acids and having a molecular mass of 12.5 kDa.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human MIER1 expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
12.5 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0455-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0455-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 97% as determined by SDS-PAGE and RP-HPLC analysis.
Activity
Human MIF bioligical activity was determined in an agarose microduplet assay using human U937 cells. The optimal activity range found for human MIF in this assay was 0.5-1 μg/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
Sterile-filtered, lyophilized protein. MIF-Protei n was lyophilized from 10 mM sodium phosphate buffer (pH 7.5).
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized protein, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted rHu MIF should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. For long-term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein (0.1% HSA or BSA). Avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
