Cat.No.
CSC-CTK0257
Description
Recombinant Human Interleukin 16 (rHu IL-16) is a CD8+ T-cell-derived cytokine that induces chemotaxis of CD4+ T-cells and CD4+ monocytes and eosinophils. Analysis by gel filtration suggests that, under physiological conditions, hIL-16 exists predominantly as a noncovalently linked multimer, but that some IL-16 may exist as a monomer. However, only the multimeric form appears to possess chemotactic activity, suggesting that receptor cross-linking may be required for activity. IL-16 also induces expression of IL-2 receptor (IL-2R) and MHC class II molecules on CD4 + T-cells. Human and murine IL-16 show significant cross-species reactivity. Recombinant human IL-16 is a 13.5 kDa protein consisting of 130 amino acid residues.
Species
Human
Product Overview
Human IL16 expressed in E.coli
Molecular Mass
13.5 kDa
Size
CAT# CSC-CTK0257-10 (10 μg); CAT# CSC-CTK0257-50 (50 μg)
Expression System
E.coli
Purity
Greater than 98% as determined by SDS-PAGE and HPLC analysis.
Activity
The biological activity of rHu IL-16 was determined by its ability to chemoattract human CD4+ T- Lymphocytes using a concentration range of 1.0-100.0 ng/ml.
Endotoxin Level
Less than 1 EU/μg.
Formulation
The sterile-filtered solution was lyophilized with no additives.
Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product briefly before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in sterile, ultra-pure water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized powder, though stable at room temperature for up to 3 weeks, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted IL-16 should be used immediately or stored long-term in undiluted working aliquots at -20°C. Avoid repeated freeze/thaw cycles.
