Description
Defensins are cationic peptides with a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity that comprise an important arm of the innate immune system. To date, four human beta-defensins have been identified: BD-1, BD-2, BD-3 and BD-4. Beta-defensins are expressed on leukocytes and at epithelial surfaces and are 3-5 kDa peptides consisting of 33-47 amino acid residues. Creative Bioarrays recombinant human beta-defensin-2 (rHu BD-2) is a 4.3 kDa protein containing 41 amino acid residues.

Reconstitution
Please centrifuge product before opening the vial. The lyophilized protein should be reconstituted in water to a concentration of 0.1-1.0 mg/ml. This solution can then be diluted into other aqueous buffers and stored at -20°C for future use.
Storage & Stability
The lyophilized BD-2, though stable at room temperature, is best stored desiccated at -20°C. Reconstituted BD-2 should be stored in working aliquots at -20°C. Please avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
